Be kind… to your behind

Strength training your biggest muscle group will lead to the biggest calorie burner.

‘Work your arse and lose inches off your waist’ says Director of Pole Secrets
‘I love making my girls squat like they are training to take on the US military, we focus on removing that line that we all turn around and look at in the mirror that sits under our pants, we all work hard then go home and eat a feast for a King’ say Claire Wright proudly.

What is Claire Wright actually going on about I ask?
She then continues to educate me on the Gluteus Maximus otherwise known as ‘the butt’.
I sit eagerly waiting for my booty lesson and am even more excited about the fact that I will leave this studio a complete butt expert where I can bore my fellow drinking pals with facts and stats of their rear ends.

I learnt that people with a limited time schedule would seriously benefit from botty taming, why?

I continue to ask Claire to give me a complete dummies guide to this training as believe me I really am a complete novice when it comes to the gym, let alone new types of trendy fitness regimes like Pole Fitness or even as Claire Wright puts it ‘Functional Strength’.

I then go on to learn that in a nutshell, Strength training essentially is where you build muscle and tone any fat deposits into muscle.
Ok you say…what’s the catch?
Well the more muscle you have the more calories you burn which essentially rises your metabolism allowing you eat bigger portions, oh yes that was my thought not hers!
So she then goes on to tell me, ‘sense would have it that you need to work the ‘biggest’ muscle group in order to burn the most calories’.
Still listening I hear that every pound of muscle burns 35 calories a day, and that muscle burns more than fat, so adding muscle will increase your RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate) that’s right folks I am showing off a little now.

So if you were to maximize this theory and you have little training time, you would work your biggest muscle group.
What is the biggest muscle group?

I don’t need to tell you that, just think about it and your feel it as you will be sitting right on it.

So what is the greatest fact learnt from the lovely Claire Wright :
If you don’t have much time to train and need to maximize calorie burn, concentrate on working the arse!
