Dance to Fitness?

Most people assume that exercise helps lose those extra few pounds around the waist. We all know this to be true, but what is lying beneath the true meaning of exercise is much deeper than this.

Exercise and aging are linked hand in hand. Without exercise your aging will drastically accelerate which is not something us girls want happening in a hurry.

In 1966 a Medical School based in Dallas took out an experiment on five healthy twenty-year old males. These young men were told to each lay on a bed and relax for three weeks. Now I don’t enjoy men sitting on their behinds for long periods of time, especially in front of the T.V, however, in this case I’ll let them off.

As their intense three weeks of doing nothing, they quickly discovered that their dream was not as perfect as it seemed. At the end they all went away with:

A fall in muscle strength
A drop in the heart’s maximum pumping capacity
Faster resting heart rates
Higher systolic blood pressure

These problems can also be associated with premature ageing and the natural ageing process of the body.

A 2008 study in an issue of Archives of Internal Medicine, doctors in London, found that people who enjoyed leisure time showed slower signs of cell changes related to ageing.

Looking at this I think it’s fair to agree with Soul II Soul and “Keep On Movin’ don’t stop no!” To put it quite simply, if you can raise your heart rate to the equivalent of jogging for half an hour, three times a week it will help you slow your overall rate of ageing.

You are only ever given one body in your life, so you might as well look after it. Your future self will be thanking you instead of bitching about how lazy you were. Take the time to care for your body and in return it will give beauty that gets better with age. Exercise more, age less it’s as simple as that.
